South African tech journos indulging in beer and opinion…

ZA Tech Show: Episode 11

This week we take the ZATS crew back to its vanilla form. No guests, just raw chat. We discuss:

  • Cell C’s (possible) introduction of EDGE 2.
  • MTN’s acquisition talks.
  • The announcement of Nokia’s N78 and N96.
  • Microsoft PlaysForSure biting the big one.
  • The iPhone going global - and heading for South Africa on Vodafone.
  • Vodacom’s ridiculous water damage policy.
  • Apple IMC clamping down on grey Apple imports in SA.
  • Grand Theft Auto IV’s opening week earnings of half a billion dollars.
  • Communication’s minister Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri postponing her budget speech and bungling things up, as usual.

…and probably some other stuff too

Grey products mmm… Either the product is authentic or it is not. If you have a product with a world wide service guarantee then they should honour that guarantee. Sounds like they are covering their asses on their junk products.

Its like Nokia store in Vodaworld telling me they can’t service my N73 because its a MTN handset? mmm either its a Nokia device or it isn’t?

These are simple loopholes to make sure they don’t have to actually honour their guarantees. These loopholes give me little trust in these industries. Sis on you Apple!

iTunes radio station for the iTrip in South Africa (yeah, link baiting on the keywords). Best I’ve found is 103.4 - but I’ll try yours (88.1)
