Subscribing to ZA Tech Show for South African iTunes users

Apple has launched the South African iTunes Music Store to provide apps to iPhone and iPod Touch users. Unfortunately Apple has disabled the podcast directory for South African iTunes account holders, and those of most of the new stores recently launched. If you subscribed before the switch then you will be unaffected by this, but new users from the South African store receive a message stating, “The item you’ve requested is not currently available in the South African store” when trying to view our listing, or subscribe. Fortunately there is a way to get around this.

  • Open iTunes and click on ‘iTunes Store’ in the left panel.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the store’s front page and find ‘My store:’.
  • In the drop down menu next to ‘My Store’ select United Kingdom or United States.
  • After the page has refreshed, subscribe to ZA Tech Show using our iTunes store URL or search for ‘ZA Tech Show’ in the store directory.

Hopefully Apple will soon rectify what must be an error in its store rollout. Until then, please share this workaround with your networks.
