@Nic
What you must remember is that (in respect of Xbox), currently it’s only MI Digital (distributors of Microsoft published games and consoles) who are increasing their prices (more like RRP of R899). The other distributors have already increased their prices, with most settling at no more than R699 RRP. If you look at EA’s titles for January 2009, most are coming in at just a little over R500 on Kalahari.
So in general, most of the titles won’t change in pricing (yet), not to mention there aren’t many AAA titles coming out in the first 2 months of 2009, so that if the Rand/Dollar exchange strengthens, we could see MI Digital’s prices lowered.
@ Steven
Okay, point taken. But as someone who’s just invested in an Xbox, I was absolutely shocked at the price of Xbox games in general. I just find it so difficult to understand why Call of Duty: WaW for PC is on shelves for R399 and the same title for Xbox is closing on R750 – just one example, but it’s a trend across the board. Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe – R725, Star Wars: Force Unleashed – R699.
It’s madness. I can see why there are so many people chipping their consoles!
For now, I’ll use my Xbox as a media extender and for occasional Guitar Hero parties. But for gaming, I’ll stick to PC – it’s way cheaper.

All this lovely talk about all the great future for broadband and the end user with the fibre being laid down. I still do not have access to broadband here in the middle of nowhere.
I have to use a wifi access company that rips me for R650 a month for 150k access, no other option other than dialup.
How do you reckon it will change my access if ever?
